DESCRIPTION:Advancing Faculty Mentoring Practices (AFMP)\, Part 1 - Full Length\r \n Full-Length Mentor Training (6 hours): Encouraged for faculty who have not previously participated in mentor training at UCLA. \r \n Dates: April 14 &amp\; 21\, 2023: 1 pm-4 pm (virtual) Participants must be able to attend both sessions. \r \n Application Period: Applications close on March 15th. Participation confirmations will be sent by March 24th.\r \n Apply Here for Full-Length Mentor Training: https://uclahs.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_bKLJqPmOv6SrXUO\r \n The objective of the workshop is to enrich current mentoring practices by providing mentors with evidence-based approaches to research mentoring while offering a forum in which to solve dilemmas. This training comes from the Center For the Improvement of Mentored Experiences in Research (CIMER) and the National Research Mentoring Network (NRMN).\r \n AFMP is recognized by the NIH and NSF in grant applications as evidence of a commitment to trainee mentoring\, including trainees from diverse backgrounds. This training has the potential to increase research productivity by strengthening the mentoring relationship. The competencies addressed in the training foster well-being (especially mental well-being) of lab members\, reducing conflicts that can hinder research progress.
