The development of biologics, including protein and gene agents, represents a major advancement towards better therapeutics with high potency and specificity. Their broader adoption, however, has been limited by factors such as undesired biodistribution, low stability, and immunogenicity. The Wen lab focuses on developing advanced biologics through nano-encapsulation and molecule-architecture design that mitigate such limitations, leading to various therapeutics for viral infection, central nervous system diseases (e.g., brain tumor, systemic tumor with brain metastases, and spinal cord injury), and cancers via immune modulation and other pathways.
