First-Gen Community,

 

Please join us for UCLA’s first ever 1st Gen College Student Conference: ‘Everyday Superheroes’ on Friday, May 17th in Covel Commons. The conference is geared towards providing a space where first-gen undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, staff, alumni can engage in conversation and build community. The conference has three areas of focus: building community and providing a platform to showcase amazing research and creative art by our first-gen students. 

 

The conference schedule includes breakout sessions with academic research presentations from graduate & undergraduate students, pedagogy workshops for faculty, staff and TA’s, creative showcase spaces and community building workshops.

 

Active and engaged participants will be able to:

  • Learn from the creative and academic works of fellow students 
  • Engage in meaningful discussions with fellow first-gen students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members 
  • Feel a sense of belonging within the first-gen community
