Research Interests

My research focuses on the molecular mechanism(s), which establish peripheral T cell tolerance, the interaction between T cell and antigen presenting cells, and neuroimmune regulation. Using autoimmune disease murine models, my current investigations are 1) to characterize autoimmune processes; 2) to determine the impact of modulation of antigen presenting cells on T cell immunity; and 3) to develop antigen based immunotherapies to re-establish self tolerance. An additional area of my research is to characterize lymphocytic GABA receptors and the potential immuno-regulatory function of GABA.

These studies will aid future endeavors to design immunotherapies for autoimmune diseases and prevent immuno-rejection of transplanted grafts.
